James, most internet marketers I have come across will always tell you that their online ‘affiliate’ business explodes and maybe it really does but does it duplicate?
The difference here is an ongoing misunderstanding of the core differences between ‘direct selling’ and ‘network marketing’ and most affiliate programs fall into the ‘direct selling’ model.
One could argue they are one and the same but they are not.
In a properly constructed network marketing system, in order to reach a point where the income derived from the movement of products becomes truly passive there must be a simple system in place that can be duplicated by most people and as Wes points out, most online/affiliate/auto-responder/lead generation/whatever systems are not able to be duplicated by most people. Yes, they might work for a time but do they duplicate easily?
I recently had a very long winded online discussion with a person about this subject and they just could not get that what they are doing (in their case) is direct selling. They have to be actively involved in the life of the affiliate process/program in order to create and then re-create the income.
Let me just point out here that this is also the case in network marketing however at some point a person can stop building their network marketing business, (so long as it is a properly constructed system), and it will continue to remunerate them regardless. Not possible in most direct selling businesses, online or offline.
The person I had the discussion with finally told me that they were not taught, or never knew the difference. They were completely uneducated to the fact that the 2 systems are so different.
I understand that your system works James, but it does not duplicate easily and that is the point.

Hey Wes – Twitter has exploded my affiliate business and I have met some great people who have mentored me and others I have brought into my funnel and helped get their businesses going. I am sold on social media in general and Twitter in particular. It should be viewed as one of many channels to bring prospects into your funnel and network.

I have been on Twitter a comparatively short period of time compared to some others, but it has created leverage for my blogs, podcast and videos. It is actually duplicates better than some old school methods – although it does require a willingness to learn some new skills.

If you have an attractive profile, conduct yourself in an attractive way, give value, act with integrity, and bring an abundant mindset, and patience with consistency Twitter can be amazing!

I love reading your stuff – you always cause people to think and I appreciate that.

Wesley! Once again you “hit the nail on the head”!….This business is grow on relationships, period. Belly to belly, person to person. Thanks for writing this. Sometimes I feel people get lost in the idea of having 100’s of followers and spend most of there time doing busy work. Instead of tweeting all day they should be out making contact with people. You know actually doing some networking.
