The only time I would have thought those two would be in the same category would have been in some kind of sentence where “The lineman for an NFL football team killed a friend who tricked him into going to an Amway meeting.” But times are changing. Watch out!
At first I thought to myself “Wow Amway is crazy.” Then I thought a bit more and said to myself “Oh my…It is happening even faster than I thought.” As you can see from the commercials Amway has been around for more than 50 years and whether you like it or not is a proven Billion-dollar company. That fact is intriguing to a professional who is looking at an industry for stability. Team that with the reality that we are also in a new age where the young gun generation does not see Amway in the same light that many of the older generation does. They might have heard horror stories of going to a dinner party when suddenly a man with a red tie sprouted out of the cake and started drawing circles but indeed they have never been apart of that. Like so many things they will test the waters themselves instead of taking the wonderful word of their older peers. A proven business model indicated by the 50 years example and the attitude of the younger generation are pretty good indicators for some kind of surge for the industry. Will you be one that is impacted is the question?
As for Amway itself…I don’t necessarily know that they will benefit from this ad campaign in a long term major way. I think they may get a quick boost but the fact that the company has been around for so long does truly in my mind mean that it is harder to make a big check. That is a reality in my mind. Amway is a good solid company but the time for making a big check there is long past for the new comer.
So will you benefit from the Amway and Football phenomenon?
Yes the economy is bad but in all reality the panic is beginning to subside. Combine that with the fact that we are on the verge of a new year and a surge seems eminent in my mind. People are starting to see that they are still alive and that the world is not totally upside down. They are also seeing that traditional business is not necessarily the answer or way out. Network Marketing offers a low risk high reward option that many are turning to. Will you be one that is responsible for the growth or will you say “Geesh, I can not believe I did not buy stock in google when it was pennies cheap!” I truly believe we are in one of those historic times where many will one day look back and say “Why did I not jump.” Don’t let that happen to you. I implore you!
People are dying for a way out of this time of hardship. You can be one of two types of people in this crazy economic time. You can be a victim and stay down with the rest of the herd or you can be one of those that looks at the 543,000 jobs that were lost in the month of November, yes that is real, and say “I have a way out. I have the answer. I am going to be at the forefront of an industry that is about to explode.”
My language has been strong in this post. It is because I truly believe that this is a time of historical importance for you. If you act and get to work I honestly believe that you can be one of those that gets to live the life of your dreams. I genuinely believe that.

Wes – Great post and observation. Amway Quickstar has been working hard over the past 12 months repositioning their brand. They have been running a very aggressive campaign in CNN, yes CNN. This is brilliant and there is a real lesson for everyone of us in the network marketing industry regardless of what company we promote. We have all gotten this question; “is this like Amway?” The best reply that you can offer is “we can only hope,” a company doing over 5 billion dollars in annual sales, a continuous 50+ year run of profitability and millions of independent business owners. What a company and why not aspire to be “like Amway.”
If we simply change the paradigm in the minds of our prospects to see the value of that company, we can begin to help them think differently about our own.
To your greater point; it is very telling in these times when people are searching for answers our industry will stand the test of time and prove to be a saving grace for millions worldwide.
